It’s been 4 years but seems like just yesterday, the hunt of a lifetime! We arrived into Peace River on a wet and chilly night, checking into our hotel, and waiting for the morning hours to arrive. That next morning, we were greeted warmly by Tricia Freelend and hit the road for a 3-hour journey to the Chinchaga Wilderness!

By the time we arrived into camp the temp was well below freezing (dropping as low as -26 one morning). We were greeted by Bob, Josh, Jamie and Chris. This team was simply awesome, made each one of us feel as if we’d known each other for years. The rustic cabin accommodations were perfect, just what you’d expect so many miles from civilization.

Both Josh and Chris were excellent guides, the best I’ve seen in their field, and hunting from the relative comfort of an Argo made traversing lots of country easy. Tons of caribou sightings and plenty of wolves to be seen too…. although we weren’t fortunate enough to take one out. Of course, there were numerous moose sightings, the first bull made its appearance on day 4. The floodgates opened on day 5 and 6, all four of us proud to be coming home with meat, and a rack, in tow.

From Jamie’s home cooking, to Bob’s grizzled back country style, the entire team left our group with memories that will last a lifetime. In fact, several still keep in contact to this day. I’m looking forward to a return trip, it’s just too incredible to not go back!
